City Of Sparks Confirms The Final Results Of The 2022 General Election

The Sparks City Council held a special meeting on November 18, 2022, to canvass the votes of the 2022 general election. City Council declared the results of the 2022 general election official and confirmed the winners.

  • Ed Lawson earned 51.11 percent of the votes, maintaining his seat as Mayor.
  • Dian VanderWell maintained her Ward 2 City Council seat with 52.02 percent of votes. VanderWell was appointed to serve as Ward 2 Councilmember by Mayor Lawson in 2020.
  • Charlene Bybee was reelected to her Ward 4 City Council seat with 71.48 percent of the votes. Bybee was elected to serve as Ward 4 Councilmember in November 2014 and was first reelected in 2018. She currently serves as Mayor Pro Tempore. 
  • Shirle Eiting won her seat as Sparks Municipal Court Judge with 55.27 percent of votes. Judge Eiting was appointed by Mayor Lawson in January of this year following the retirement of Judge Barbara McCarthy.
Mayor Lawson, Councilmembers VanderWell and Bybee, and Judge Eiting will be sworn into office during the regularly scheduled Sparks City Council meeting on November 28, 2022.
