A new national survey shows only about 30% of voters, both conservative and liberal, believe President Biden and Democrats in Congress are doing enough to stop inflation.
In a recent poll distributed by the Senate Opportunity Fund (SOF), only 3 in 10 Americans said they believe President Biden and Congressional Democrats are doing enough to stop inflation. The SOF poll was conducted March 15-17, 2022. It surveyed 800 general election likely voters on a national scale.
Of the poll's respondents, a majority 61% said the administration is not doing enough to stop inflation. This includes 75% of respondents who identified as conservatives, 58% of respondents who identified as moderates, and 39% of respondents who identified as liberals.
While overall annual inflation is nearly 8%, gasoline has gone up 38% during that time—nearly the largest increase in the consumer price index (CPI) as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Gasoline is a leading driver of consumer inflation. As gas prices continue to be at record-high levels across the nation, the Gasoline Misery Index shows the average American pays $667 more than they did a year ago.
According to Fox Business, major Economists think Biden’s spending plan could push inflation even higher, a likely contributor to Biden’s low polling numbers on the issue.
The $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package that was passed by the Senate in March 2021 was backed by Nevada Senate democrats Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto, according to KOLO 8 News.
